Darker Nights

As the evenings become darker earlier, we would like to remind residents to take a few simple precautions to help keep their properties and vehicles safe.

Home Security -

Ensure doors and windows are locked, even when at home.

Use timer switches on lights to make your property appear occupied.

Keep valuables out of sight from windows

Check your outdoor lighting is working.

Set your intruder alarm if you have one.

Move bins, ladders and other items away from your property that could help someone gain entry.

Vehicle Security -

Remove valuables from vehicles or keep them out of sight.

Lock your car and ensure windows are fully closed.

Use a visible steering wheel lock.

Store keys, including spare keys, in a Faraday pouch or bag to block the key signal.

Park in well-lit areas where possible.

If you witness suspicious behaviour or have concerns about crime in your area, please report it to the police. In an emergency, always call 999.

Working together, we can help keep our communities safe.
